Create a great storytelling environment at home.

There have been great societies that did not use the wheel, but there have been no societies that did not tell stories.” Ursula K. LeGuin

We all love a good story, this is especially true for  children. Your children will love Phil’s beautifully told oral stories, they are fun and entertaining and can be enjoyed by both children and adults alike.  It is easy to get children’s undivided attention and enthusiasm, with a good story. This is why stories are such a powerful learning tool.  With a subscription to our site  you  and your child can have access to a library full of Phil’s video stories, many of which are accompanied with his especially created, easy-to-follow storytelling ideas and exercises for the home.  Which help to raise children’s literacy, and oracy skills.

You can now help your children achieve great results at home in a fun and creative way.

Stories are not only linked to raising skills in literacy and other educational achievement, they encourage personal development through empathy and the learning of life lessons.

“Children’s early knowledge of story was the most influential indicator of later educational achievement.” Gordon Wells U.K. government education advisor.

As parents we all want our children to enjoy learning about and exploring their world, and we want to help them in their education, whether they are achieving or are having difficulties.  However, it is all about finding time in our busy lives to give our children the time and help they need. In addition our children’s lives are  increasingly dominated by the internet, in particular the growing popularity of social media, facebook and twitter, resulting in the monopolisation of children’s time. Which is why developing or maintaining a storytelling tradition in your family becomes even more important.

Oral stories are an ideal way to enjoy being with your children, particularly in the knowledge that you are also helping in their learning and personal development. Stories can happen in most situations, in the home or outside. Stories can be told while walking, on the bus, on the train, in the car; and in the home, while cooking, bath time, and the traditional bedtime. Stories can even become one of the most important focal point in your family’s time together.

Phil’s Oracy to Writing Process, a bridge from oral tales to writing, has already been successfully implemented in many schools across UK and around the world, in raising the writing standards, confidence and self esteem of thousands of children. Now it has been developed for use in the home.
